Thameslink Key Output 2 (KO2) is the final construction stage in the Thameslink Programme consisting of major track, signalling and station remodelling works at London Bridge station.
The programme was split into three main contracts (Track, Signalling, and Major Civils) and managed as the London Bridge Area Partnership (LBAP). Balfour Beatty were awarded the Track contract to reconfigure nine ‘through’ platforms and six terminating platforms, and in addition to these major works, they were also awarded a Minor Civils package to facility the signalling works, and are acting as the Principal Contractor role outside of London Bridge station.
Equib has provided resource to act as the Balfour Beatty risk manager for the Thameslink contract, ensuring that they adhered to the risk processes for both Balfour Beatty and their Client, Network Rail. The role as risk manager has included ensuring that both joint project risks are identified and managed on the Client-maintained system, ARM, but that also programme and business risks were managed and reported within Balfour Beatty using thinkRisk. Other key responsibilities included monitoring and reporting against the risk exposure and risk allowance, facilitating internal quantitative schedule risks assessments, and leading on periodic reviews with the Project Director and their teams.
